REFN: 117 Ordered in council that Nehemiah Smedley be commissioned Captain, 4th Co. (1st Williamstown Co.) of Col. Benjamin Simond's (2nd Berkshire Co.) regiment of Mass Militioa. Commission reported dated 1 June 1776, also Captainserving as Volunteer, Capt. Samuel Clark's co., Col. Benjamin Simonods's (Berkshire Co.) regiment; entered service 7 Sept 1777, dischared 30 Sept 1777, service 24 days. Company marched to Pawlet by order of Maj. Gen. Lincoln to serve for 20 days from time of joining at headquarters and was discharged at Pawlet, 60 miles from home, role certified at Williamstown. Also, Private, Capt. Israel Harris' Co., Col. Benjamin Simonds' (Berkshire Co.) regiment, enlisted 12 Oct 170, service 11 days, including 4 days (80 miles) travel home, company marched to Northern frontiers by order of Gen. Fellows on alarm.

John Paterson, dated Ticonderoga, 23 July 1776, Capt. Sloan's Co., aged 22 years, stature 6 ft. complexionlight, residence Williamstown, deserted 20 June 1776. (Mass.
