Journal and Courier, Lafayette, IN, US, Jun/25/2005 John C. Carvey 89, of Longboat Key, Florida and Indianapolis, Indiana died suddenly at home of heart failure on June 22. He was born on March 9, 1916 in Converse Indiana; graduatedfrom Culver Military Academy '34; from Columbia University '38; and from Indiana University School of Law '47. He served on George Patton's Third Army staff during WWII; retired from the Army Reserves as Colonel in 1967; practicedlaw in Indianapolis until retiring in 1996; and served as a commissioner onthe Indiana Civil Rights Commission 1975 ?? 1983 including serving as the Chairman of the Commission. Not one to retire, he served on the board of directors of Seaplace Association (Longboat Key, Florida) from 1993 to 2005 and was their President from 1999 to 2004. Friends may call on Sunday, June 26, 2005 from 2:30 until 5:30 p.m. at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center ?? Broad Ripple. A memorial service will be held at Northwood Christian Church on Monday,June 27, 2005 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery, Macy, Indianaon Tuesday, June 28, 2005. He celebrated his 59th wedding anniversary with wife Carolla Jeanne (Flentke) earlier this year. He is survived by his wife; daughter Vicki (Bill) Morton; son John David (Catherine) Carvey; daughter Cynthia (Eric) Griffin; and six loving grandchildren: Virginia Carvey, Kathleen Morton, Andrew Morton, Ashley Griffin, Angela Griffin, and Christopher Griffin. www.flannerbuchanan.com
