"Mott, Adam, Hingham, a tailor, from Cambridge, Eng. came in the Defence 1635, aged 39, with w. Sarah,
31, and ch. John, 14; Adam, 12; Jonathan, 9; Eliz. 6; and Mary, 4; was first ofRoxbury, freem. 25 May
1636; perhaps dissatisf. as a friend of Htchinson, went 1638 to Rh. Island with fam. there had, perhaps,
more ch. and was with Adamjr. John, and Jonathan, perhaps his s. liv. at Portsmouth, as freem. 1655."

Adam Mott (1596-1661), a native of Saffron Walden, Essex, Englandemigrated to America in 1635 arriving on the ship Defense on July 2ndwith his second wife Sarah Lott whom he married in the parish ofHorseheath in Cambridgeshire (just to the northeast of Saffron Walden)along with Adam Mott's family by his first wife Elizabeth Creel whomhe married in Saffron Walden in 1616.Jacob Mott was the first child of Adam and Sarah, born in Roxbury,Mass. in 1636. Jacob married Joanna Slocum (1642-1727), daughter ofGiles and Joan Slocum about 1658 and they lived with Jacob's fatherAdam in Portsmouth, RI where Adam had settled by 1639.Edward Thurston, who married Elizabeth Mott, was the co-executor ofAdam Mott's will of 1661. Jacob and Joanna Mott had six childrenincluding Hannah Mott (1663-1737) who married Abraham Tucker (d.1725).I descend from Hannah's brother Adam Mott who married CassandraSouthwick.I will do my best to find more dates and details about your line.
