                   They resided in Fort Orange where Matthys Jansen van Keulen became a trader on the Hudson River 1641 to 1648.ÊÊ He also kept his position as a principal partner director of the West India Company in the Amsterdam Chamber. (Riker, Revised History of Harlem)Ê

On August 18, 1646, Matthys Jansen acquired a land patent of 100 acres (50 morgens) on Manhatten Island called Van KeulenÕs Bouwerie in Papparinamin, through a grant received from Director Kieft.ÊÊ The land was located on the very northern end of the Island through which Kingsbridge Road now passes.Ê This property was also referred to as the Matthys Jansen Patent in Harlem.Ê His brother Conradt Jansen Van KeulenÕs property, Van KeulenÕs Hook or the Otter-spoor, was just south of this which was purchased on his behalf by Cornelis Van Tienhoven, provincial secretary for 2900 guilders.
