They arrived at their newhome called Charley Forest, situated on an 889 acre tract of land ofthe same name, Brooke had recently purchased. Called the first of thefamily seated at Brooke Grove. Their home, a log house framed (Maryland's earliest style ofarchitecture after the wigwam), stood until 1913, a short distance offBrooke Road, a quarter mile north of the present Sandy Spring postoffice.
