After her fathers death, her mother moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota.  Ione went to work babysitting and tore rags for Ethel Tookers rug weaving business.  She worked as a shirt presser and mangler operator at Taylor's Laundry and Dry Cleaning. Her wages were 35 cents an hour.  Our first born Carol Ann, who weight 11 lbs 13 ozs. was stillborn.  After the baby was born Ione went to work  at the Sherman Hotel Laundry as mangler operator. Her mother came to live with us. Roger was born 15 Aug 1951.  Wherever we lived, in South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana and Iowa, we always had a big vegetable garden.  Dale was born 9 Jun 1953 in Dickinson, North Dakota.  Terry was born 7 Oct 1954 in Dickinson, North Dakota.  In Marshalltown, Iowa worked at the Thunderbird Motel as a maid. In Rock Island, Illinois she sold Avon products and baby sat.  When we acquired LeAnne Styling Salon in Moline, she was the receptionist.  She also worked for Brand Name Shoes, Lexington Nursing Home and Gardner Cleaners until she went home to be with the Lord.
