Notes:
LeRoy and Maude Wells were married in Rushville, Missouri where they lived until July 1918 when they moved to St. Joseph, Missouri. LeRoy was born in Forest City, Missouri, however he meet his wife Maude in Rushville, while he was selling apples from a freight train. LeRoy's parents had moved from Forest City or Mound City, Missouri to St. Joseph, Missouri.
LeRoy grew up with a great love for hunting, fishing, gardening and wild game animals. He had a variety of these animals which he called the Pioneer Game Farm. On this farm he had a variety of animals including turkeys, chickens, pheasants, owls, ducks, pigs and cows. He also built a small fish pond. Some of the animals which he raised he sold across the country.
LeRoy was a very kind, outgoing person, never knew a stranger and he spoiled his grandchildren, although he was in some ways a disciplinarian,
especially with his own children. He was always very patriotic and the children grew up honoring the dear old Red, White and Blue. His birthday was July 4th and it was fun to celebrate his birthday. He sang little catchy Rymes and songs with his grandchildren. He would do anything for his children and grandchildren. The house was always open, along with heart to his friends, family and relatives. After visiting for a day, week or month, dad always would pucker up and cry or weep to see them go.
He was a Christian, not going to church on a steady basis, but on special days. He sold the first neon sign in St. Joseph, working for the St. Joseph Light and Power Company. He was a house to house salesman, selling Hoover Sweepers, Refrigerators by the same name Frigidaire and appliances such as Wringer Washers, Irons, etc. He gave my mother's mother her first Refrigerator and Radio. When he went into a home to sell something, he did not go in as a salesman, but as a friend. Every one loved him. He kept a record of the weather on a big calender and was a good predictor of the weather. He was also a good carpenter. Joy said she and the children lost a true friend when he died. Joy said that she looked up to her dad to make decisions and be a family guide. Information by Joy FIELD Hutton. Joy and Roy were twins born to LeRoy and Maude Field.

Notes:
Maude Wells was the wife of LeRoy Field and mother to four children. She was a wonderful Christian mother, speaking to each of her children about believing in the Lord on Easter Sunday in 1935. Each of the children, Joy and her twin brother Roy, Thomas and Virginia went forward that day to accept the Lord at the King Hill Christian Church in St. Joseph, Missouri. Joy's mother was her friend and opened her heart and home to all relatives on both sides of the family. We were known as a kissing and loving family. My mother (from Joy) was a wonderful cook and seamstress. She put others first and herself last. Those around her could see clearly that Jesus lived close to her heart. She and LeRoy were devoted to each other and were married for 59 years.
