Obituary, February 27, 1908:  "Robert V. Sherrod passed away at his home near Blue Ridge station, Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock.  He had been sick for a long time and death had been expected for several days.  The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Sunday at the residence conducted by Rev. Glick, and the remains were conveyed by undertaker House to the Mansfield cemetery for interment.  His widow, two sons and two daughters survive him, Marshal of Springfield, and Anna, a trained nurse of Chicago who had been caring for her father, John and Helen at home.  Also two brothers Garret and Will of Iowa who attended the funeral.  A large concourse of relatives and friends followed the remains to their last resting place."
