First Christian King of Norway, patron saint of Norway. With
Aethelred II, fought Danes in England and tore down London
Bridge (commerated in nursery rhyme, London Bridges Falling
Down), fought in western Europe, became the sole ruler of Norway
and forcibly Christianized inhabitants. Slain during eclipse
of 31 August, 1030 at Stiklestad fighting Canute, King of
England and Denmark.
