                   Alfred fled Mississippi with his son, Oliver, and his brothers John F. and Greenberg when he killed two men with an umbrella.  The group then headed out for Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana.

Adolph von der Burg was born about 1675 in Germany. He was the father of the three brothers, Johann, Peter and Walther, who came to America in 1738. He was a descendant of the parents of Adolph von der Burg, the Merchant Prince who moved his dwelling to the Rhine before 1430, and died in Cologne in 1470. The parents of the Merchant Prince ( it is known ) lived and died at Burg an der Wupper, which lies at the base of the high plateau on which the Castle Schloss Burg is located. Adolph von der Burg, the father of the three brothers who came to America, was also about a nineteenth generation descendant of Adolph von Berg, who was born in 1020, the first ruler of the Bergisch Land.
