Eustace II Talvas BOULOGNE, DUKE OF LORRAINE
He was a companion of William the Conqueror at the Battle of
Hastings, 1066.
Companion of William the Conqueror.
Probably born earlier than the 1061 given at Baisey (?),
Brabant. He was a Domesday tenant in 1086 at Carshalton,
Surrey. He wa sa leader of the first Crusade, named King of
Jerusalem but took the title of Advocate of the Holy Sepulcher.
He was followed by his next younger brother Baldwin, Count of
Edessa, who became Baldwin I, King of Jerusalem.
