Note: PRINCESS OF SCOTLAND DAUGHTER OF ROBERT THE BRUCE In 1306, at the age of 12, Marjorie was captured with her mother by the English at Kildrummy Castle and sent to a nunnery. After Bannockburn, she was released and met by Walter Stewart who would become her husband. Tragically, in 1316, she wasthrown from a horse, while pregant, and killed. Labor was induced prematurely; the surgeons delivered the boy from her womb. Fifty-four years later, he became Robert II King of Scotland, the first of the Stuart dynasty. The doctors who delivered Robert Stewart from the womb of Marjorie performed a Ceasarean section, the first authentic record of one since the operation was performed at the birth of Julius Caesar. The beautiful Marjorie's final dying words as she gave birth to her son were, He's a laddie; I ken he's a laddie; he will be king. Her prophecy came true. Presidents Franklin Delano Roosevelt, James Buchanan and James Monroe, Lewis Carroll (Alice in Wonderland) and the Duke of Wellington are descendants. The Queen Mother (Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon), Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, and Princes William and Henry Windsor are descendants.
