Notes:
[] Nathan almost cornered the cotton market and made the family fortune. His first business was as a partner in his father's saddlery/tannery in Kenosha, WI. Nathan later sold it and went into investments. He enjoyed a very successfull career in the Wall Street community and worked closely with Bernard Mannes Baruch (1870-1965). His untimely and premature death in 1924 was due to poor treatment of an infection that today could have been cured with antibiotics.

Notes:
[] Margaret attended Kenosha schools including Kemper Hall, Briarcliff Seminary in NY and Madame Marty's in Paris FRANCE. Margaret traveled extensively with her father and yearned for freedom that the times would not allow a young woman. When she married, she found a freedom that was nurtured by her husband. Margaret worked tirelessly for her community and local civic causes. Although denied college prior to her marriage, Margaret became an avid reader and was well versed on a variety of subject matters. Margaret and Robert were devoted to each other through out their marriage. Their only ostensible acrimony occured when discussing certain issues of the day, particularly when it concerned politics. Margaret was a Democrat and Robert was a Republican. I can remember many lively discussions that occured during the Johnson and Nixon years. Still, their love for each other came through. The evenings that I remember in both Miami Beach, FL and Lake Geneva, WI typically centered around the Hunt and Brinkley TV news report, dinner, card games and the scent of my grandfather's pipe. It was a mark of 'having arrived' when one of the grandchildren was finally old enough to sit with the adults at dinner.
