John HICKS
From the file provided by Chris Wallis:John, the son of Zechariah II, married Rebecca Champney on May 8, 1721. John, a carpenter, like his father, had 5 children: Rebecca, who was born on Feb 17, 1721 or 1722; John who was born on May 23, 1725; Zechariah, who was born on Jan 25, 1727 or 1728; and Samuel, who was born on Jan 28, 1728 or 1729.John purchased the northerly half of his grandfather's estate, which had been held by heirs, in 1727. On July 29, 1731, he sold it to his brother-in-law, Deacon Samuel Whittemore.=================================================He subsequently removed to Westbourgh MA and then eventually to Sutton, MA (NEHGR 88:307) where he died, age about 76. (Sutton VR) Undoubtedly he was John Hicks who was an original partner in the Land Bank of 1740 - listed as John Hicks of Westborough/Sutton.(NEHGR 50:197)
He married Rebecca Champney 8 May 1721 at Westboro, Ma . Rebecca Champney was born at Crambridge, Middlesex, Ma 8 Oct 1703 daughter of Samuel Champney and Hannah Smedley .
