                   Her baptism record shows her name as Maria.  Not the first mispelling or name tweak I have come across.  She was most likely named after her grandmother, but went by Marie in Switzerland and Mary in the United States.

Mrs. Sparr left St. Joseph a year ago. She was the widow ofJohn Sparr, who operated a wood turning shop many years on North Thirdstreet. Besides Mrs. Norment she leaves another daughter, Mrs. E.C. Schaefer,St. Joseph.SPAAR--Marie, aged 79 years, widow of John Sparr, died Tuesday, June 28,at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Norment at Kansas City, Mo. Besidesthe daughter at whose home she died, she is survived by one other daughter,Mrs. E.C. Schaefer of St. Joseph. Remains were brought to St. Joseph andare at the H.O. Sidenfaden funeral Home, Frederick ave. at 18th st. Funeralservices will be held at the funeral home tomorrow (Thursday) June 30,at 2:30 p.m. Burial at Ashland Cemetery.
