                   Extract from his will, typical for a will of those times: "In the name of God, Amen. The 6th day of August 1734. I, Zachariah Bostwick of Stratford, yewman, being sick and weak of body, calling to mind the mortality of my body, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say principally and first of all, I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of God who gave it, and my body to th Earth to be buried decently at the discretion of my executors, hereafter named, nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly state as it has pleased God to bless me in this life ... I give and dispose ... ". Then follows the usual very detailed list of his goods, including house and land, £1115, aggregating £1456:8:3 comprising 52 separate items, some valued at less than £1
