"al" Allen HELLENGA

                   Dr. Robert D. Hellenga, E.D.D., 1123 Berkshire Dr. Passed away Thursday
morning, November 20, 1975. Dr. Hellenga was born September 14, 1920 in
Chicago, Ill, the son of Rev. Al and Cornelia Hellenga and had been a
resident of Kalamazoo for the past 12 years. He served in the U.S. Navy
Medical Corp. in W.W.II. He was a member of the Hope Reformed Church
where he was serving on the Consistory as an Elder, had taught in the
Sunday School, was a member of the Westside Kiwanis Club. Prior to coming
to Kalamazoo he was Superintendent of the Ravenna Schools. He was
employed with the Western Michigan University in the Educational
Leadership Department & prior to that was Director of Placement.
Surviving is the wife, Charlotte; 4 sons and 2 daughters, David of
Endwell, New York, Mrs. Tom (Nancy) Osterman of Sturtevant, Wis., Dale
and Miss Susan, both of Kalamazoo, Gary of Clayton, Michigan and Steven
of Kalmaazoo; 5grandchildren; 5 brothers and 2 sisters, Dr. Irving
Hellenga, Toccoa, Georgia, Wayne Hellenga, Decatur, Mrs. Gordon (Barbara)
Bloemendal, Holland, Michigan, Ronald Hellenga, Lucas, Michigan, Mrs.
Ronald (Faye) Hofmeyer and John Hellenga, both of Iowa, Brian Hellenga of
Holland, Michigan; several nieces andnephews. Memorial service will be
held Saturday at 12 noon from the Hope Reformed Church with Rev. Kenneth
VanderBroek officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3 o'clock in
the Riverside Cemetery, Three Oaks, Michigan. Friends may call at the
Langeland Chapel, 622 S. Burdick until 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
