    1. William Davis was a Patriot during the Revolutionary War and provided supplies to the militia of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
    2. William and Elizabeth lived in that part of Rowan County which in 1822 became part of Davidson County, North Carolina.
    3. The first five children were born on Evitts Creek, a branch of the Shenandoah River in that part of Frederick County which became part of Berkeley County, Virginia in 1772. It then became part of Jefferson County, Virginia in 1801, which became Jefferson County, West Virginia in 1863.
