Ballow, G.A., farmer and stock raiser, Sec. 30, P.O. White Hall, was born 10 December 1826 in Virginia.  Came to Greene County, Illinois, July 1845.  Was married 24 December 1848 to Margaret North, the daughter of W.H. North, who was born in Sept 1818; had eight children, two of which are dead; Burley E., born 2 September 1850; Laura, born 6 July 1853, died 7 July 1863; Charles J., born 14 January 1855; Lizzie M., born 20 January 1857; Sarah E., born 10 December 1859; Emily J., born 10 August 1862; Catharine B., born 31 January 1865; James H., born 4 July 1869, died 12 December 1874.  The father and mother of Mr. Ballow died in Virginia when he was very small.  He came to Greene County, Illinois when he was 19 years of age, and started in life as a farmer, and owns 50 acres of well improved land.

Lloyd B. Ballow Succumbs Sunday; Services Tuesday
Lloyd B. Ballow 195 Greenwood Avenue, died Sunday at 6:40 AM at Passavant Hospital, following an illness of several months.  The son of George Alfred and Isabel Jarvis Ballow, Mr. Ballow was born in Taylorville on 26 July 1883.  He was united in marriage with Bessie Lea Smith on 10 July 1908.  To this union were born two children, Mrs. Bruce Thomson of this city, who survives, and a son, who died in infancy.  Surviving besides the wife and daughter are three grandchildren. Robert Bruce Thomson, Jr.  William Lloyd Thomson and Marily Jane Thomson.  Mr. Ballow was preceded in death by two brothers and eleven sisters.  The family home was in White Hall until 1932 when they moved to Jacksonville.  For a number of years, Mr. Ballow was connected with the White Hall sewer Pipe and Tile Company and later with the Louisville Pottery company.  The decedent was a member of Central Christian Church and was active in Masonic circles.  He held membership in Lodge 570 AF at A>M> transferring from the WEhite Hall Lodge, where he was past worshipful master.  He also belonged to Xingstad Grotto.  The body is at the Williamson Funeral Home where services will be held Tuesday at 3 PM with Reverend Leslie Heaton will officiate.  Interment will be in Diamond Grove Cemetery with ritualistic services by the Masonic Lodge.
