Sarah Snow Tennant Dead - Monday morning when the hour of 10:45 was reached, Sarah Snow Tennant, beloved wife of Alexander Tennant, Sr., passed away suffering the most bitter pangs of grim death. Notwithstanding the fact that Almighty God in his wisdom permitted her to endur a long and tedious illness from January of this year until the present time, her pain and sorrow during her last moments of earthly existence were even more painful to her than any time during the long suffering she was permitted to pass through. During those long and weary months she was not in a condition to leave her sick bed one whole day at a time, and, there was not one whole day of ease and comfort. Her first attack was lagrippe which later changed to consumption which resulted in her death. Mrs. Tennant was the daughter of George and Mary Snow and she was born in this city February 28, 1856 where she has since that time made her home. Some years ago her mother passed away, but her old father, who survived her was at her side in her last hours of earthly existence together with her bereaved husband and her four children, as well as many relatives and friends.
She was married to Mr. Tennant by her grandfather, Patriarch Gardner Snow on 12 April 1874 and during this union nothing but love and kindness prevailed in their home. of late years comfort and prosperity was making life a pleasure to them until the beginning of the 20th century when her time of trouble commence. All that could be done for the suffering mother was done by her husband and friends until her last hours, but her time to leave this earth had come, and no mortal being culd have save her life. Dr. Olsen, their family physician, was constantly in attendance using every effort that medical skill affords; also elders were sent for to administer to her, but all of no avail. The characteristics of deceased were those of charity and assistance to the poor and needy, and her life was such as to entitle her to a resurrection with the just and worthies of the earth.
Funeral services were held in the Tabernacle Wednesday afternoon at 2:00. the speakers who gave words of consolation to the bereaved were Pres. J.B. Malben, Pres. J.D.T. McAllister, Bishop Hans Jensen, M.F. Farnsworth, C.P. Larsen and David Shand and Bishop Wm. T. Reid. The gathering at the Tabernacle was largely attended and the number of vehicles following the remains to the semetery were 31.
