He was a native of Monroe, but lived most of his life at Nephi, where he engaged in farming. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ellen Ostler Blackett; two sons and four daughters, George W. Blackett of Cedar City, Mrs. Melvin Worthington, Mrs. Lloyd Garrett and Wallace W., Florence and Grace Blackett of Nephi. Funeral services will be conducted int he Nephi First LDS chapel at a time to be fixed later. Blackett of this city died at a Salt Lake Hospital Wednesday evening of pneumonia after an illness of six weeks. He was taken to Salt Lake City for an operation for appendicitis and never regained normal strength. He was a native of Monroe, but has lived in Nephi the greater part of his life, having engaged in farming as an occupation. Surviving are his widow, Mr. Ellen Ostler Blackett; two sons and four daughters, George W. Blackett, Cedar City; Mrs. Neldon Worthington, Mrs. Floyd Garrett Walace, Forence and Grace Blackett of Nephi. Several brothers and sisters also survive. The time of the funeral was not decided Thursday evening, but will be announced later. Mrs. Blackett was born 28 April 1876 a daughter of George W. and Harriet Clark Ostler. She resided in Nephi all her life. She was married to John Walter Blackett 29 June 1899 at Nephi and the marriage was solemnized in Manti Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mr. Blackett died 17 years ago. Mrs. Blackett served as a Relief Society Block Teacher for 35 years and earlier had been a religion class teacher. Survivors include four daughters and two sons: Mrs. Grace Memmott, Woods Cross: Mrs. Dorma D. Garrett, Mrs. LaVern B. Worthington, Mrs. Florence E. Lunt, Nephi; George W. Blackett, Cedar City, and Wallace C. Blackett, Provo. 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and three sisters: Mrs. Georginia Wilkey, Nephi: Mrs. Drucilla Kenney and Mrs. Bertha Stallings, Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 PM at Nephi First-Second Ward Chapel, directed by Roy E. Gibson, Bishop at Nephi Second Ward. Fiends may call at the family home 197 E. 5th South Friday evening and Saturday until time of services.
