White Hall, was born 10 December 1826 in Virginia. Came to Greene County, Illinois, July 1845. Was married 24 December 1848 to Margaret North, the daughter of W.H. North, who was born in Sept 1818; had eight children, two of which are dead; Burley E., born 2 September 1850; Laura, born 6 July 1853, died 7 July 1863; Charles J., born 14 January 1855; Lizzie M., born 20 January 1857; Sarah E., born 10 December 1859; Emily J., born 10 August 1862; Catharine B., born 31 January 1865; James H., born 4 July 1869, died 12 December 1874. The father and mother of Mr. Ballow died in Virginia when he was very small. Ballow, aged 76 years, father of W. S. Ballow the real estate man, passed away at 2:05 o'clock Monday afternoon at his home on West rich Street. The deceased had been ill for the past four months and for the past three weeks had been bedfast. Death was caused from cancer of the stomach. The deceased was born in Greene County, Illinois, and came to Christian County and settle in Locust Township near Elma in 1880. Seven years ago he moved with his family to Taylorville where he has since resided. He is survived by the widow, one son, W.S. Ballow of this city and two daughters, Mrs. Maude Mills and Miss Grace Ballow, both of Taylorville. One brother, Chas. Ballow survives and lives in Hettick, Illinois, and one half brother, Lloyd Ballow of White Hall also survives. Three sisters survive the deceased. Mrs. Emma Childers of Taylorville, Mrs. J. W. Conway of St. Louis and Mrs. Kate Cunningham of Hillsboro. The deceased was a member of the Modern Woodmen Lodge and a life long member of the Universalist Church.
