Samuel INGERSOLL
Genealogy of Ingersoll Family - Pg. 7 #11 Samuel Ingersoll was born about 1654 at Falmouth Maine and died after 133 at Gloucester, Massachusetts. Driven from Falmouth by the Indian hostilities, he went to Charlestown where Mr. Savage informs us his wife Judith brought to baptism the first five of their children 10 Jun 1694. He 12 July 1696, aged near fifty, was baptized. He came to Gloucester soon after 1700 and was an active shipwright, having his place of business at Easter Point near that where Capt. Robinson built his first schooner. The date of his death is not known, but he certainly lived to extreme old age. His wife, Judith died 1 May 1720, between 50 and 60 years old. Samuel Ingersoll was oe of the five Gloucester men composed partly of the company to hold in 1733 the township of Amherst, New Hampshire, then called Narragansett No. 3 which was granted for services rendered by themselves or their ancestors in 1675. He conveyed the right to his son Joel in 1734 saying in the deed that he was a soldier in the Narragansett war called Phillips' War.
