                   Trowbridge Family Pg. 216 - #2189 - Rev. Caleb Trowbridge, the fourteenth and youngest child of Deacon James and Margaret (Jackson) Trowbridge born 7 November 1692, graduated at Harvard in the Class of 1710, being 18 years of age; was ordained at Groton, Massachusetts 2 March 1715.  He was twice married - 1st to Sarah Oliver, daughter of Thomas Oliver 10 March 1715.  She died 16 January 1717.  2nd to Hannah Walters, daughter of Rev. Nehemiah Walters of Roxbury.  He died 9 September 1760 aged 68.  The following is taken from his monument: "Underneath this stone lies the body of Rev. Caleb Trowbridge, late Pastor of the Church of Christ, in Groton, born of respectable parents in the town of Newton, educated at Harvard College, in Cambridge New England of such natural and acquired endowments as rendered him an ornament and a blessing in the several relations which he sustained.  "He was a good steward of the House of God, and discharged the duties of his Pastoral relations with prudence and impartiality, diligence and fidelity.  He was a tender and loving husband, affectionate and kind parent, an agreeable and faithful friend, and a useful member of society.  He was much beloved and respected while he lived, and died, greatly lamented, the 9th day of September AD 1760 in the 69th year of his age, and 46th of his ministry, and is, we trust, enjoying the reward of his labors in the kingdom of his Lord.  and, in honor to his memory, his loving people have erected this monument over his grave."
