In 1675 he purchased of Deputy Governor Danforth 85 acres of land, with a dwelling-house and out-buildings thereon which the Governor had occupied for some years, bounded with the highways west and south, the narrow lane north, his own land east, "the dividing line being straight through the swamp." This estate has always been occupied by his descendants, and is the property, at present (1869) of Mr. Nathan Trowbridge of the seventh generation from the first settler.
