Mr. Snow was born 22 January 1842 in Hancock county, Illinois, shared with his parents in the trials and persecution which followed the Mormon people in early days in Hancock county and Nauvoo, and journeyed with the Saints on to Council Bluffs. He arrived in Utah in the fall of 1852 where he has resided ever since, sharing the hardships of pioneer life, and taking an active part in the building of roads, bridges, canals, and the early Indian troubles. Mr. Snow was a good citizen, respected by all who knew him, always living a very quiet and unassuming life. Snow Dies at Home Mrs. Mary E. Hallett Snow, age 85, wife of the late Don C. Snow died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Owen White 828 South Fourth East Street, shortly before noon today. Mrs. Snow had been in ill health for some time, suffering from severe pains in her back, but had no been confined to her bed. This morning she went from her home at 731 East Third South street, to visit her daughter and was just preparing to eat lunch with the White family when she complained of feeling ill. She passed away a few minutes later. She was born in Hancock County, Illinois, December 12, 1844, and was brought to Provo by her parents, Clark T. and Phoebe A. Bray Hallett when a small child. A few years later her parents died and she then went to live at the home of the late Mrs. Hannah York in this city, who raised her to womanhood. Throughout her life, Mrs. Snow was a devout member of the LDS Church. Mrs. Snow was the mother of ten children, seven of whom survive her as follows: Levi Snow, Clark Snow, J.C. Snow, Don Snow, Arlington Snow, Mrs. C.H. Miller, Mrs. Charles Pealkey, and Mrs. Owen White, all of provo. She is also surved by 43 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Hallett Snow, who died Tuesday noon at the home of her daughter Mrs. Owen White. Leon Newren presided at the services. The invocation was offered by Thaddeus Cluff and Leo Thurman offered, the benediction. Eulogies to the splendid life and character of Mrs. Snow were given by the speakers who were Benjamin Bulloock, John T. Giles and Bishop Andrew Jen of the Bonneville Ward. Beautiful musical numbers were rendered. Murray Roberts furnished two vocal solos "A Perfect Day" and "Holy Hour." accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Anna Hinckley. A vocal selection was rendered by Mrs. Nola NIlssen entitled, "Come Unto Me." Mrs. Vera Peterson accompanying at the piano. Mrs. Mary Wanlass and Mrs Emma Egilson sang two duets "Some Weet Daye Bye and Bye" and "Jesus, My Savior." They were also accompanied by Mrs. Peterson. The dedicatory prayer at the Provo City Cemetery was offered by Heber Miller, eldest grandson of Mrs. Snow. Born 20 April 1868, he was a son of Don Carlos and Mary D. Hallet Snow. He was educated in Provo City schools, and was first employed as a brick maker by the Beesley and Tiffany Brick Company of Provo. On March 20, 1899, he was married to Sarah E. Freshwater in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mrs. Snow died in March of 1942. From 1899 to 1937, Mr. Snow served as assistant sexton of the Provo City Cemetery. He retired from that position 11 years ago. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was active as a high priest at the time of his death. He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Vernal Clark Snow, Nephi; Mrs. Emily May Anderson, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Ethel A. Edmonds, Provo; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters, James C., Levi C., Arlington, and Ray Snow and Mrs. Reva White of Provo and Mrs. Lillie Mann, and Mrs. Ella Barnett, both of Ogden. Mrs. Snow, one of the oldest former members of the Provo force, was police captain more than 30 years. In 1900 he became a deputy sheriff under Sheriff Thomas Williams. Two years later he was appointed to Provo Police Department and became captain of the force until his retirement in 1936. Since his retirement, Mrs. Snow had been an honorary member of the department. Mr. Snow was born 31 March 1874 in Provo, a son of Don Carlos and Mary Hallett Snow. As a young man he was employed as a brick mason and carpenter and did some miningl. He first married Annie Charlotte White 22 July 1901 in Provo. She died a year later. He married Emiline Gay Field 22 May 1905 in Provo. They had resided here since. In 1937, Mr. Snow was employed with L.J. Eldredge at Utahna and Rainbow Gardens Dance Halls. He retired from that work in 1945. Active in Bonneville Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mr. Snow had served on the ward's building and finance committees, and was a high priest at the time of his death. He was a member of George Albert Smith Camp, Sons of the Utah Pioneers. Survivors include his widow, Provo, two sons and a daughter: Moorland E. Snow and James Fenton Miller, and Mrs. Hazel Snow Hundley, all of Provo: a step son and two step daughters: Mrs. W. Glen Field, Portland, Oregon and Mrs. Hal (Delvene) Hedrick and Mrs. E.H. (Ione) Graham, both of Los Angeles: 19 grandchildren: 15 great grandchildren: two brothers and a sister, Levi Snow and Arlington Snow and Mrs. Owen White, all of Provo. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1 PM in Berg Mortuary Chapel by Kenneth L. Pace, bishop, Bonneville LDS Ward. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 PM and Monday prior to services at the mortuary.
