Thomas EWER

«/b»Thomas, born 1633, married Hannah ??, and died in Barnstable in 1667, aged 34.
Respecting the family of Thomas Ewer, 2d, little is known.   He removed to Sandwich early. In 1659 he had a family and resided near Spring Hill.  He was a Quaker, and for refusing to take the oath of fidelity, and for attending Quaker meetings, was fined L20,10 which with expenses amounted to L25,8.

In 1658 Thomas Ewer and most of the leading members of the Society of Friends in Sandwich were disfranchised and ordered to leave the town.  Continued to live in Sandwich till 1660.  In 1661 he was living in Barnstable.  He died in 1667 at age 34, leaving a widow Hannah and a family of children.  Thomas Lothrop, the father-in-law of the deceased, and Shubael Linnell, his uncle were appointed guardians of the children

«/b»son of Thomas Ewer and Sarah Learned - tailor by profession - born 1633 in London, England??; baptized 6 Feb 1633/1634 at Strood. - died 1667 in Barnstable, Massachusetts, aged 34 (died at Sandwich) - resident of Charlestown, then Barnstable, then Sandwich, Massachusetts - married 1) Lydia - died a large family 2) Hannah Lothrop - children Elizabeth, Anna, Thomas, probably others. - in 3 Dec 1661 Thomas was given a portion of land (8 acres) at the great neck.  All lots butt upon the Bay or beach and run to the hill (Town of Falmouth, Barnstable, Massachusetts.

On 31 May 1667 his widow probated his inventory.  Thomas Laythrop and Shuball Linnitt were to be guardians of the children.
