Kenelm's purchase in 1559 of Sir Richard Newport's estate, called Newport Place, Kempsey, Worcestershire, added to an older estate called "Clerkenleap." It is told that he sold the Kerswell farm that he inherited from his father, Thomas, when he moved to Worcester City.
