The inveterate researcher Valerie Johnson sent this, Januar y 2007, her note followed by the deposition:"...note that Bond family researchers here in Goochland sa y their family came out of Maryland but they didn't know o f any connection in Middlesex, or the Northern Neck area . This deposition seems to tie my theory even more strongl y to them." 'The Deposicon [sic] of James Boughan Aged 45 yeares o r there abouts saith that about 13 or 14 yeares ago or ther eabout one Richard Bond came out of Maryland & his wife an d brought with them one little Girl as I doe believe migh t be about Eight or Nine yeare old and I did severall time s heare the said Bond wife say that that Girl was her daugh ter that she had by a former husband & that her name was El iz: Muffit & that the said Girl is now marryed to Henry Jo hnson in this County & fider [further] saith not.'" 'Xber ye 9th day 1700, Ja: Boughan. The Deposicon withi n written was sworne to by the within named James Bougha n in Essex County Court the 11th day of Xber 1700 and is tr uely Recorded according to an Order of the said Court  Te st Francis Meriwether Cl Cur'"[Essex County, Virginia, Deed Book 10, page 63)"In April 2007, Valerie added this information:"It seems some of the abstracts have the name Muffitt liste d incorrectly. It looks to me like the name may be Mussit t (they must have read the s' as f's). (Editor: ... in th e 18th century, and sometimes later, s's interior to a wor d were written as f's and thus Muffit could easily be a mis reading of Mussitt, but Mussitt must surely be a misspellin g of yet another name, for example, Mussett?)"Anyway, I found that a Henry Johnson died without a will i n 1722 in Lancaster County. The records list his administr ators as his wife Elizabeth, "oldest son Sill" and a Rober t Newsom. According to Newsom researchers, this Robert Ne wsom of Lancaster has a sister Elizabeth who married John P ace of Middlesex"John Pace and Elizabeth Newsom are the parents of Margare t Pace The same Margaret Pace who married William Johnso n of Middlesex I think I'm getting close, I'll let you k now what else I find.
