N. A. Ranney receives The Sad News Of His Fathers Death Obituary
Julius Ranney was born Febraury 20th, 1829 in Madison County, New York and
at the age of 15 years he moved with his father to Cattaraugus County, New
York. When at the age of 20 years, on August 27, 1849 he was married to Miss
Nancy M. Milk. He still made his home in Cattaraugus county until in May 1867
when he removed to Fairbank, Iowa where he made his home until fall or early
winter of 1865 when he removed to Maynard, Iowa where he has resided to the day
of his death, May 8th, 1906 at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 18 days.
He was the father of 8 children, 6 of whom are still living, Luke who lives
in Desmith, S.D., Nathan A. of New Auburn, MN., Herman of Maynard,Iowa, Evaline
S. Barnes of Desmith,S.D., Justin W. of Iowa Falls, and Alfred H. of
Minneapolis, Mn., and they with the Faithful wife who journed with the deceased
for 57 years remain to mourn his leave taking.
As a husband he was true, faithful and ever kind. As a father he was, if
ever at fault over indulgent. As a citizen he was a quite hard working man ever
willing to perform the tasks that came to his hands
The funeral services were held Thursday at the Presbyterian church at
2PM conducted by J.S. Osgood, assisted by Rev. Cassidy.

A.H. Ranney, 75, Succumbs Here
Resident of Mason City for past 30 years dies at the I.O.O.F. Home
A.H. Ranney, 75, died at the IOOF home at 3:15 O'clock Sunday afternoon. He
had been a resident of Mason City for 30 years, having been engaged as a
carpenter, but he had entered the home in September, 1932.
Mr Ranney was born Oct. 3, 1858 in New York. He is survived by his wife ,
Katherine, also a resident of the IOOF home, and a brother, Jed of Maynard.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 o'clock at the IOOF home.
The Rev. William Galbreth, pastor of the Olivet M.E. church, will be in charge
of the services. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. The body is at the
Patterson funeral home.
