Conflict on date of birth 1844 in obit and 1845 in the 1900 fed census.
I used the family date in obit. If we used 1845 there isn't enough time before the next child is born. Need to research in Cornwall England and see if I can find a christening.

Obit Democrat Mineral Point,Wisc. April 4, 1935
Mr James Richards was born in Cornwall, England, March 22, 1844, and died at his home in Mineral Point early Thursday morning, March 28 at the age of 91 years and six days. He was brought to Mineral Point by his parents in 1847 and lived here practically all his life. On June 3, 1863 he was married to Miss Matilda Bennalack to which union twelve children were born, four of whom with the mother preceeded Mr. Richards to the great beyond. There are eight children living to mourn the loss of Father. Curtis of Mineral Point, Henry of Deer Lodge, Montana, Jenny(Mrs James Whitford) of Freeport, Clara (Mrs Wm. Argall) of Mineral Point, Ella (Mrs Thomas Walters) of Tacoma, Washington, Bertha (Mrs Charles Francois) of Medford, Frank of Platteville and Pearl (Mrs Gilbert Gorgen)of Fennimore.
Mr Richards was one of the grand old men of Mineral Point, one who all his life has been a good citizen, kindly in disposition, retiring by nature, yet never backward in standing for the right in public affairs. He was a good neighbor, a helpful friend, a thoughful husband and an indulgent father. He lived a good clean life and beyond the full measure of his days. As the years were prolonged, his physical health gradually weakened until he retired on the evening of Wednesday, Mar 27, and quietly fell asleep to awaken in eternity.
Mr. Richards spent the past winter at the home of his daughter, Mrs Gorgen in Fennimore, and returned here on March 19th, less than two weeks prior to his passing.
The funeral serices were held from the home on Monoday afternoon, when Rev. C.E. Burdon officiated, the remains being laid reverently to rest at the Graceland Cemetery. All of the surviving children were here for the funeral except Henry of Deer Lodge, Montana.

William James Richards, son of James R. Richards, was born in the town of Mineral Point, on the 13th of January 1867 and died in this city April 18, 1921.
At the age of 20 years he went to Montana in quest of that fortune so eagerly sought by every industrious young American. There he persevered for about fourteen years.
He married to Avis S. Curry of Dodgeville February 15, 1898. Four children were born to them-two sons and two daughters. One son preceded him to the life beyond.
For the last eighteen years he with his family partook of farm life in the Alberta section of Canada. Finally his vigorous constitution broke. He tested California's recuperative merits without satisfaction, then wended this way, arriving in this city the 1st of last January, accompanied by his wife, one son and one daughter. Diabetis haunted him and he gradually grew weaker the end coming suddenly with an acute attack beginning about three days before death stepped in.
Besides his wife and children he is survived by his father (a respected townsman of this place). five brothers and five sisters, namely: John of Deer Lodge, Montana, Curtis of this city, Henry and Oscar of Hall, Montana, Frank of Platteville, Mrs. J. Whitford of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Mrs Wm Argall of this city, Mrs Thomas Walker of Tacoma, Washington, Mrs Chas. Francois of Medford and Mrs Gilbert Gorgen of Fennimore.
Brief prayer serice will be held at the home of John R. Brown, uncle of deceased, and funeral services will be in the Methodist Episcopal Church at 2 PM today(Thursday) conducted by the pastor, Rev. John Birrrell.

Need to look up cities of Medford and Fennimore to see if they are in Wisconsin?

Need copy of death cert to see when he is buried. Might be Dodgeville where his wife was from.
