Notes: 1. Richard and soon-to-be wife Abigail Goody Lippincott came to New England in 1639 from Plymouth, Devonshire, England. They settled in Dorchester, Massachusetts where they were married in 1640. The family later moved to Boston where they were excommunicated from the First Church for inclining toward the Pacifist Quaker beliefs. In 1652, the family returned to England hoping to escape persecution as Quakers under the Puritans in New England. However, they encountered more severe suffering when they refused to swear allegiance to Oliver Cromwell's Commonwealth. In 1660, Richard was taken to prison with other friends. in 1663, King Charles II granted permission for the Lippincotts and other friends to return to the New World, where they settled in Rhode Island.
He married Abigail Goody 10 May 1640 at Roxbury, Suffolk, Massachusetts . Abigail Goody was born at Northumberland, England Abt 1621 .
