Ann Bate is listed as the mother of ten children. #5 child, Mary, is not listed on the archive sheet, but is listed in the AF, 12 Jun 1998. FAMILY: Both the Wing and Banstable books referenced state that Stephen Batchelder married a 4th time, at age 89, a Mary, with whom he lived only a few months. She filed for divorce as he abondoned her and returned to England. The record is not complete as to whether or not she obtained this divorce. I have not recorded this marriage...................Bla 02/23/02 OTHER: New England Ancestors-Spring 2002- Vol 3, No.2 pg. 10 offers the insight that his 4th wife, branded with an A at the court of York County on Oct 15th 1651 was the inspiration for Hawthorne's book, The Scarlet Letter.
