NOTE: William Gifford had eleven childen by his first wife, Hannah or Mary, possibly Mary Wing, and had twelve children by his second wife, Lydia Hatch.
FAMILY: NEHGS 1944: Vol 128,Pg. 255 states that "Amy was the daughter of Lydia as were the five younger children."
MARRIAGE: The NEGHS references cited state that William had 17 children, five by his second wife, Lydia Hatch. The reference also states that Lydia was the mother of Amy and the five younger children..NEGHS reference cited for Obadiah Butler (a son-in-law) also states that his wife was one of the 17 children of William Gifford. I have carefully reconciled all these numbers and names..............Bla 01/08/02
NOTE: Hannah aka Mary. Archive family group record states that Hannah, orMary, is possibly Mary Wing. Hannah died sometime between December 1710 and June1711 , as William Gifford married Lydia Hatch 21 June 1711. There is no reference in the book, "John Wing and his Descendents (1632-1888)" of a Hannah Wing marrying a William Gifford, so this source is of no value.
