There is no documentation that first wife Emma's maiden name was Thornton but there is a Thornton family living next door with a daughter, Emma of the right age who then is missing from the Thornton household and Thomas is found with a wife, Emma of the right age. Thomas did marry young girls each time.
He was a pathmaster and a democrat; he was buried in Two Rivers Cemetery.
