David HOPKINS
David migrated from W. Greenwich, RI to then Charlotte county and in 1773 bought lot 20 of the McCullock Patent, which patent adjoined on the north the Perry Patent where Josiah Parrish had bought land in 1772, and lived not more than 2 miles from where the Parrish had settled - possibly nearer. Judge David Hopkins was a county official in many capacities and also served in the New York Assembly for many years, including the one which ratified the Federal Constitution. He died January 26, 1813 and is buried in the little Hopkins Cemetery on his homestead land, now behind the E. Hebron Church. Hannah, after the death of David, followed her children to Cayuga Co., New York and was living with daughter Nancy Hamilton, near Weedsport at the time of her death. She died may 11, 1833 and is buried in the Centerville Cemetery, near Weesport.
