Letter from Dick Turnbach to Thelda Baker: (Luzerne County continuations 1884, p. 26, Vol. 369, p. 37, 20 Dec 1898) John Turnbach (son of John 1790 and Elizabeth): Daniel Shook and his wife, Phoebe, and Jacob Oxenrider were involved in real estate transactions regarding ownership and financing of a hotel on White Street in Summit Hill, Carbon County. Ruben Ockensenrider was exec of the estate of Jacob who died 12 Nov 1883. He sold a minor property at conyngham near that date, and later sold a farm in Sugarloaf. The deed names William and his wife Sabina; Wilson and his wife Elvina; Alice married to charles Morrison of Philadelphia; and Frank P. Burcaw and his wife Elizabeth, also of Philadelphia. The deed specifically identifies Frank as half-brother to Ruben. This property was previously owned by James L. Burcaw, and was adjacent to a farm owned by Stephen Turnbach. Perhaps the sale was delayed until Anna Maria died.
Pioneers and Patriots "Over the Blue Mountain" Anna Maria's first husband, James Burcaw went to war and never returned.
He married Anna Maria Dornbach (Turnbaugh) . Anna Maria Dornbach (Turnbaugh) was born at Sugarloaf, Luzerne, Pennsylvania Abt 1828 daughter of Johannes Dornbach (Turnbaugh) and Elizabeth Miller .
