(Also see notes of his father,Eseck and grandfather, Sisson)
Eseck Cole, one of the oldest resident farmers of the town of Richfield, has lived on this farm, which was settled by his grandfather in 1793, nearly all of his life. . .
(He) was born on the farm, 24 Jun 1817 and has always lived upon it, with the exception of two and a half years spent in Michigan. When a boy he labored hard upon the farm, living with his father until he died, and then with his grandfather until his death. The farm then came into his possession, and in time he purchased the interests of the other heirs.
His mother died at the home of one of her daughters, when eighty-three years old.
(Information about wife and children entered here.)
Mr. Cole is a Republican in politics. His wife is a member of the Presbyterian, and their daughter of the Baptist Church. ((Mary E. lived with her parents in their later years, her brother Menzo passed away young.)
Mr. Cole has served on the Board of Supervisors three terms, 1859, 1860 and 1861, is one of the most prominent citizens of the county, and has witnessed many changes during the course of his long life. Many friends surround this aged couplek, and their declining days are those of pleasantness and peace.
