   King Phillip's (an Indian) War, which began in June 1675 and lasted for a year, cost the colonists about 600 lives, 600 buildings burned and 13 towns destroyed.  The money cost was estimated at $1,000,000.  Among those who advanced money to sustain it from Rehoboth were the following:
       Joseph Buckland  6 pounds 3s 0d
       William Buckland  2 pounds 9s 0d
       Benjamin Buckland  4 pounds 3s 10d
       And this was not all the Buckland family contributed, for Benjamin was slain on 26 March 1676 with eight others, at a place called "Nine Men's Misery."

From the Original Rehoboth Vital Records:

       William Buckland died in Rehoboth and was buried ther 1 Sept. 1683.
       Mary Bucklin, a widow, buried in Rehoboth, 29 Jul 1687.
       Joseph Buckland married 5 Nov 1659, Deborah Allen, died in Rehoboth, 26 March 1718.

       Benjamin Buckland, bapt. Hingham, Mass. July 2, 1640, md. Rachel Wheatland.  Slain by Indians at Nine Men's Misery, 26 Mar. 1676.
Joseph d. 1718 buried Rehoboth.  Tombstone states he was 84 yrs. 9 mos. 3 days old (born in England.)

3 ly - I doe promise that after me and my wifes decease that the said Joseph shall have and enjoy so much more land upland and meddow as shall make up the full halfe of what I doe now possesse in Rehoboth.

BUCKLAND -- ALLEN:  (Plymouth Colony Records part 2, v 2, p. 66

       The present writing Beareth witness that there is a purpose of marriage intended between Joseph Buckland of Rehoboth and Deborah Allin of the same plantation now for some (word not legible) moving me hereunto I William Buckland of Rehoboth Doe promise to give, sign and sett over att present one third part of all my lands both upland and meadow with all the privileges ptaining to it that I enjoy in Rehoboth to be my son Joseph's proper right forever to him and his wifes forever also.
       2condly, I do promise to build the said Joseph a convenient house for his comfortable living with three scores acres of land adjoining to it within one year and to be Josephs and his wifes and their heires forever.
       3ly, I doe promise to give to my son Joseph after the decease of mee and my wife half of all my goods and stocke that I have both within dores and without to be his forever only I doe Reserve in my hands out of Joseph's estate five pounds to be at my Dispose . . . Now for the true and faithful  pformance heerof I the said William Buckland doe bind myselfe and heirs exequitors and assigns in the sume of two hundred pounds firmly by these prsent writing.  In witness heerto I have set to my hand and Seale.
