Solomon Yost was possibly born in Roaring Creek, Col. County settling in Sugar Loaf Twp. and was a carpenter but spent his last years as a farmer.

Was it Samuel who married Abbie and Rebecca rather than his brother Solomon and had children??  One note indicates this might have been the case.  Information sent by Rev. Isaac Schellhamer, pastor of the Reformed Church, Sugarloaf, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania indicates that it was Solomon who married Abbie, not Samuel.

Samuel and his son Joseph were weavers of reputation.

Luzerne County Will Book F, p. 231, probated 20 Apr 1872:
        In his will Samuel of Black Creek. . .give to my wife Polly. . .to Francis Nungresser heir to my daughter Polly who was intermarried to Samuel Nungesser. . .to son Stephen. . .etc., Dated 10 Jun 1869

       Abbie Turnbach died one year after her marriage and shortly after her only child was born.  Her husband, Solomon Yost married her sister, Rebecca.

Samuel was raised in Sugar Loaf Township and educated in the common schools.  He learned the carpenters trade and followed this profession for eight years.  In 1870 he became a farmer.  He was a member of the M.E. church and in politics was a Republican.

Soloman Yost was born at Chester, Pennsylvania 1808. His parents were Henry Yost and Margaret Richert (Richard).

He married Abbalonia Dornbach (Turnbaugh) 30 May 1837 at Sugarloaf, Luzerne, Pennsylvania . Abbalonia Dornbach (Turnbaugh) was born at Black Creek, Luzerne, Pennsylvania 11 Dec 1818 daughter of Samuel Dornbach (Turnbaugh) and Mary (Polly) Hill .
