       John Wood married his first wife in England, and was a London mariner and factor as late as Jan 1648/49.  He was in  Portsmouth, Rhode Island by Jan 1649/50.
       He was granted 40 acres near Wm. Weeden's farm in 1648.  Be bought 45 acres in Warwick 1 Mar 1659/60.  He became a freeman in Newport 1655.
