       Philip first lived in Haverhill; home burned by the Indians 15 Mar 1697; he and others of family captured; escaped to Woodstock, where his son Philip preceded him.  The Indians killed the husband of his granddaughter, Thomas Wood and his great granddaughter, Thomas and Susanna's daughter, Susanna Wood.
       Philip was in King Philip's war.  His heirs in Woodstock shared in distribution of lands as laid out by proprietors of Woodstock in 1715.  He bought land in Ashford.  Philip and his second wife, Mary are buried on Woodstock Hill.  In 1706 Philip sold for 34 pounds thirty five acres in Woodstock to his son, Lieut. Philip.  Philip (father) and another son, Ebenezer sold 50 acres on the Quinebaug for 30 pounds in 1703.

       In 1710 Ebenezer took Lot 31 in Woodstock, which in 1686 was given to Samuel Peacock.  In1719 Ebenezer for 400 pounds bought 95 acres in Woodstock, --land which had belonged to his father Philip Eastman, to John chandler, Jr., to Arthur Humphrey and Jabez Corbin.  Ebenezer bought  land in Woodstock of John Corbet in 1706, sold land to David Holmes in 1719, and owned land in Woodstock in 1726.  Ebenezer was the first settler in concord, N.H., was in Expedition against Port Royal, was again in Canada in 1711 and at Louisburg in 1745.  Capt. Ebenezer's son, Capt. Joseph commanded a company at Crown Point, and his son Moses was in the French and Revolutionary Wars.  Another child, Ebenezer, Jr. was born 2 May 1714.

       At the time of his marriage Lieut. Philip was living in Ashford.  He was agent for Ashford to the General Assembly regarding exemption of town taxes, Lieutenant of trained band 1733, Justice of the Peace for Windham county 1733-1735, and as such performed marriages.  At the first town meeting in Ashford in 1715 he was one of six chosen to lay out highways; an Ashford Proprietor, member of the General Assembly 1732 and following years.
       Philip married his cousin, Mary Eastman.
