August Treptow prepared a notarized Testament 26 Aug 1907 listing his heirs as his wife Bertha Treptow born Raddatz; children of his first deceased wife Friederike Treptow born Timm; August Treptow, police inspector in Barmen; Bertha Treptow married to farmer Max Reim at Ithaca, Nebraska; Herman Treptow at the same place; Augusta Treptow married to Pastor Wilhelm Norenberg at Loveland, Colorado; and married son of my first wife Friederike Treptow born Timm called Wilhelm Timm, farmer at Ithaca, Nebraska (document in German). Power of Attorney document states August Treptow died 18 Sep 1920 in Kolberg, Deutchland, and mentions Bertha Reim born Treptow and Police Inspector August Treptow in Barmen, Deutschland (document in German). Herman A. Reim in letter to Kenneth M. Reim dated 20 Oct 1967 marked up pedigree chart, and revised 26 Dec 1967, that August Treptow saloon operator in Germany, farmer in U.S. at Ithaca; then returned to Germany. Reim, 8 Aug 1996, stated "At the Hanke reunion (summer 1996 in Nebraska), we had as our quests Ernst and Joy Scheunemann from Spring Hill, Kansas. Ernst grew up in Cordeshagen, and just missed having to fight in Hitler's army because he was not old enough. He immigrated to the US in the 1950's. He knew of nearby Schmollenhagen, as a small cluster of homes rather than an organized town, and knew that there were Treptows living there, although he did not know them." Letter from Erna (TREPTOW) SABIROWSKY (1894- ) written in German and translated in English, dated 11 Apr 1965, Elberfeld, Wuppertal, Westphalia, Germany, to Alma Dorothea (Dorothy) (NOERENBERG) HAEHLEN (1906-1995), states "Our grandfather's second wife was actually distantly related to him. He remained in Kolberg on the Baltic Sea. He had known her earlier. She used to work as a cook on a large farm in Pomerania." Further stated "Grandfather Treptow was able to meet my brother (Kurt), he had come over in 1906 (from the United States), lived with us in Barmen for a while, and then went to Kolberg to marry." In 1871, the German Empire was formed; prior to that date Germany consisted of a Confederation of States, of which Prussia was one. Rulers of Prussia were King Frederick William IV ruled 1840-1861, then his borther King William I (1797-1888) ruled 1861-1888, being crowned Emperor of Germany in 1871. Then his son was Emperor Frederick III (1831-1888) ruled during 1888, the year he died; followed by his son Emperor Kaiser William II (1851-1941) who rulled 1888-World War I.
