Ralph Boteler was one of the barons who took uparms against King John and whose lands were seized in consequence, but, makinghis peace, he had restitution on paying 40 marks upon the accession of Henry III, in whose reign he was constituted a commissioner for collecting the fifteenth then levied in the counties of Warwick and Leicester, in the former of whichshires, he was likewise a justice of the assize.
