                   RESEARCH NOTE:
The majority of sources searched lists Hugh Wilson and Jane Brooks as the parents of William Wilson.  This conclusion is difficult to accept because Hugh Wilson and Jane Brooks were born, married, and had children in Virginia and Georgia.  But our William Wilson, along with his daughter Mary Ann, were born in England.  Several sources have David Wilson and Jenny Routledge as the parents of William.  This ancestry is more probable as they were married and died in Carlisle, Cumberland, England - the same place that William Wilson was born.  Further research is needed to determine the correct ancestry.
