NOTE: John Christopher born in Virginia; in 1798 with a younger brother he migrated to Kentucky, walking the entire distance over the Wilderness Road. The parents of these brothers died when they were quite young and they were reared by maternal grandparents named Betts. John served in War of 1812 as Capt. of Kentucky Volunteer Mounted Riflemen - distinguished himself in Battle of the Thames in the Detroit area. Governor Slaughter of Kentucky made him Colonel of 11th Regiment of Kentucky Militia. DEATH: Died of Yellow Fever
NOTES: He served as representative in the Kentucky legislature from Jassamine County in th 1840's. He moved his family to Mo. in spring of 1850, at that time J.H. was his youngest child. They lived on a farm near Lees Summit, Mo. when Joseph was killed at his home by guerrillas, possibly by raiders in favor of slavery, never knew..... MARRIAGE: Marriage date also listed as 28 Oct 1837. OCCUPATION: Farmer
He married Mary Ann Collins 1 Jan 1800 at Woodford, Kentucky . Mary Ann Collins was born at of Woodford, Kentucky Abt 1780 .

John Betts Christopher died 1817 .
