                   NOTES:
    1. One of several signers of petition to the General Court for permission to trade with the Indians, 17 May 1658, in Chelmford.
    2. Samuel was referred to as "kinsman" in the will of Edward Kemp. It is a widely held belief that Samuel was probably nephew of Edward.
    3. Samuel is last noted in Groton in 1692, when a listing of families shows him assigned to one of the garrison houses, Not long after that list, Groton was attached by Indians. Samuel and Sarah left Groton. It is not known where they removed to at this time, but they are next found in Charlestown in 1697, when both signed a dded transferring land to their son, Samuel, Jr.
