DEATH in 1779 or 1799 ?
Leah said that her earlier information indicated that John Balthaser died in 1779 which would have made him 4 years old.  That would have ruled out son William's birth date in 1817.  So, she guessed that it should have been 1799, not 1779.  But, if guessed that death was in 1799, this could not be correct since: 1) he would have died before son William was born; and, 2) he would have been only 24 years old when he died, which does not agree with family history that John Balthaser was age 42 when he and wife (age 40) came to America with son William who was 2  years old.

MARRIAGE in 1799 ?
So, Leah guessed that he was married in 1799 (not 1779) (consistent since before William was born).  That would have made him abt. age 24 when married which is about rigth.  Leah said that her recollection of family history is that: when William came to America he was about 2 years old and his father, John Balthaser and mother Anna Maria, were ages abt. 42 and 40, respectvely.  This would mean that William was born when they were ages 40 and 38, respectively.  However, birth dates of everyone indicates that John Balthaser was 42 and Anna Maria was 40. So, that when they all came as a family to America, John Balthaser was 44 and Anna Maria was 42 (not 42 and 40 per Leah's recollection of family history).

CONCLUSION
John Balthaser was married to Anna Maria in 1799 .  Since family records indicate that they came to America when William was 2 years old, that would have been in abt. 1819.  And, father, John Balthaser, would have been 44 and wife Anna Maria would have been age 42.
